Chess, WW3, and the Polish Opening
I happened to be in Budapest this week, when the Hungarian foreign minister warned that if one NATO member joined the war in Ukraine (boots on the ground) it would lead to WW3.
There are indeed NATO governments that seek a NATO-Russia War. Poland is the cheerleader, and for good historical reason. But why should they drag the rest of the world in? Or even the US?
I have tried to play chess in the past. I am not so good, but I do know that surprise is an ally. There is a move called the Polish Opening. It is 1.b4 by white. It is risky in that it only accrues a short-term advantage. But the Polish government might send troops to Ukraine soon (when the Ukrainians are being pushed back seriously, which is imminent). Then NATO is in. That’s it. No end. And no way for the Russians not to lose but use tactical nukes (and yeah, I do know a lot about those…but I can’t tell you why or how).
Yes, the Hungarians are kind of, sort of pro-Russia. But their warning is valid. The Poles are the loose cannons here.
I am in Vienna now. No sign of peace talks.
Most of Europe is okay with the Russians, despite the political babble. But the Americans, Poles, and Ukrainians? Anger management and masculinity issues vis-s-vis Putin, I suppose.
And don’t even get me started on the stupidity of the US starting a trade war with China (both Biden and Trump).
Inflation isn’t dead. It just took a 20 year nap as China got up to speed.
War, kinetic or trade, is inflationary. That’s the future. The US/Russia and US/China cooperation (and the economic paradise that ensued) is over.
As for me? On to the homeland. Diky Bohu!
